Ghana has been confirmed as the host nation for the 2026 Africa Aquatics Swimming Championships, which will take place from May 5 to May 10, 2026, at the Borteyman Sports Complex in Accra.
The continental championship marks another significant milestone for Ghana’s growing profile in aquatic sports, following the successful hosting of several related events in recent years.

The development further reinforces the country’s ambition to position itself as a leading hub for aquatic disciplines on the African continent.
The 2026 edition of the championships will be staged in a modified format, featuring competitions across multiple categories, including Seniors, Juniors, and Masters, as well as Inter-Zonal Championships.

This expanded structure is expected to attract a wide range of athletes from across Africa and provide a competitive platform for both emerging and elite swimmers.

Hosting the event at the state-of-the-art Borteyman Sports Complex highlights Ghana’s readiness to deliver international-standard competitions.
Further, it strengthens its credentials as a preferred destination for major sporting events in Africa.
