Swedru All Blacks delivered one of their most impressive performances of the season, securing a 2-1 victory over Asante Kotoko in an absorbing Ghana Premier League encounter on Sunday at the Swedru Sports Stadium.

Kotoko arrived in Swedru riding a three-match winning streak, but were met by a fearless All Blacks side that matched them for intensity, organisation and belief from the opening whistle.

The hosts looked sharp throughout, refusing to be overawed by their more fancied opponents.

Defender Roland Leveh opened the scoring in the 37th minute, capping a strong spell of pressure and rewarding All Blacks for their positive approach.

Kotoko responded through Guinean striker Morifing Donzo, who equalised to swing momentum in favour of the visitors briefly.

However, Swedru All Blacks regained control and struck again in first-half added time, with Rudolf Mensah finishing calmly to restore the lead and send the home supporters into celebration at the break.

The match was played at a high tempo, with Swedru All Blacks edging possession at 52 per cent and registering 12 shots, 10 of which were on target.

Kotoko managed 10 attempts, with five on target, but struggled to impose themselves for sustained periods.

There were reports of off-field incidents involving supporters before kick-off, although the contest itself remained competitive and was ultimately decided on the pitch.

The defeat leaves Asante Kotoko third on the league table, four points off the summit, missing the opportunity to close the gap at the top.

They will look to bounce back against Berekum Chelsea in their next fixture.

For Swedru All Blacks, the victory eases pressure on their Egyptian head coach and could prove a turning point in their campaign.
