19 year old winger, Tyrique Aaron Delali Yusuff George, has confirmed he is of Ghanaian descent. He made this known as he settles into his new life as an Everton player.

George, who is loan from Chelsea to Everton till the end of the 2025-2026 season, stated in a video that his mother hails from Ghana while his father hails from Nigeria though he was born in England and has gone on to represent England’s National Men’s Football Team from the Under 16 level to the Under 21 level. The winger was long rumored with a Ghanaian connection prior to his statement which makes him eligible to play for either Ghana or Nigeria or England at the senior level.

The timing of George’s video is key considering Ghana will compete at the 2026 FIFA World Cup and has been drawn in Group L alongside England, Croatia and Panama .

The Black Stars have been heavily linked to fellow England born players Callum Hudson-Odoi and Eddie Nketiah regarding a potential switch for its World Cup campaign.

At Everton, George will primarily serve as the replacement for the injured Jack Grealish who has been ruled for the rest of the season due to a broken foot.
