Manchester City’s Nico O’Reilly scored a brace to power the club to a much needed win over Newcastle United in the English Premier League.

The 2-1 win over Newcastle at the Etihad keeps Man City firmly in the title race as the Cityzens have closed the point gap from five to two ahead of league leaders Arsenal’s crunch tie against North London rivals Tottenham Hotspurs on Sunday, February 22.

City have played a game fewer than Arsenal and a Spurs win over the Gunners puts Pep Guardiola’s team in pole position to claim the top spot should they win their outstanding game and the thought of piling pressure on Arsenal is something O’Reilly says he is enjoying.

“I’m over the moon with tonight. The win was the most important thing to close the gap and apply as much pressure as possible; also, very happy with the two goals.”

“There’s still a lot of games to go. We need to take each game as it comes. I’m enjoying every moment and taking it all in” O’Reilly said to TNT Sports after the game.
