Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola has described his team’s win over Salford City FC in the FA Cup fourth round as “boring”.
He said this after Man City beat Salford 2-0 to the club’s media in a game that had Man City struggle to take advantage of numerous scoring opportunities to register a big win.
An Alfie Dorrington own goal in the first half and an 85th minute finish from defender Marc Guehi settled the tie and qualify Man City to the next round of the competition.
Guehi’s goal against Salford was his first for Man City since joining the club from Crystal Palace in January, 2026 but Guardiola wasn’t too pleased with the game overall even in the face of qualifying to the next stage.
“We didn’t read the spaces where they were. Always the spaces we attack depends on where the defend and we didn’t read it. The only good news is we go through.”

“We have to move the ball quick to the opposite side and we didn’t do it. That’s why it was boring” Pep Guardiola said.
