The Ghana Para Athletics team has left Accra for a high-performance training camp and competition ahead of the 2026 Commonwealth Games.

The team departed from Accra International Airport to South Africa on Sunday, March 22, 2026. The athletes include Paralympians Zinabu Issah and Botsyo Nkegbe, accompanied by coaches Emmanuel Anum Sowah and Patrick Yaw Obeng.

In a statement released by the National Paralympic Committee of Ghana, the programme is part of the Commonwealth GAPS Training Initiative, which supports elite athletes from across the Commonwealth in preparation for the Games in Glasgow, Scotland.

The camp will offer technical development, international competition experience, and high-performance training to help the athletes refine their skills ahead of the tournament.

The National Paralympic Committee of Ghana also credited the partnership with the Ghana Olympic Committee for making the team’s participation possible, highlighting its role in creating opportunities for Ghanaian para athletes on the international stage.

Team Ghana is scheduled to return on April 1, 2026. The National Paralympic Committee of Ghana wishes the athletes and coaches a successful tour and looks forward to their safe return and continued achievements in para athletics.
