Arsenal FC restored their advantage at the top of the table with a hard-fought 2-1 victory over London rivals Chelsea FC at the Emirates Stadium.

The Gunners made the breakthrough from one of their trademark corner routines before extending their lead in a fiercely contested derby.

Chelsea fought back to reduce the deficit, but their task became even tougher after being reduced to 10 men late in the game.

The closing stages were frantic. David Raya produced a sensational save deep into stoppage time, diving low to his left to preserve Arsenal’s lead after a powerful effort from distance.

Chelsea thought they had snatched an equaliser when Liam Delap found the net, but the goal was ruled out for offside in the build-up.

Despite heavy pressure and six minutes of added time, Arsenal held firm to secure all three points. The win moves Mikel Arteta’s side five points clear at the summit, strengthening their title charge while dealing a blow to Chelsea’s pursuit of a top-four finish.
