Bibiani Gold Stars have reduced the gap at the summit of the Ghana Premier League to just one point after a dramatic 2-1 victory over fellow contenders Hearts of Oak at Dun’s Park on Sunday.
The Miners took full advantage of Medeama’s earlier slip — a goalless draw against Swedru All Blacks — by claiming all three points to boost their championship ambitions.

Samuel Acheampong handed the hosts an early lead in the 15th minute, setting the tone for an entertaining contest. Hearts of Oak, however, remained within touching distance largely thanks to goalkeeper Benjamin Asare, whose string of crucial saves ensured the deficit stayed minimal heading into the break.
The Phobians emerged stronger in the second half and were rewarded in the 64th minute when Henry Kwaku Boateng fired home the equaliser, setting up a tense and evenly poised finale.
But just as the match appeared destined for a share of the spoils, Augustine Boakye struck in the 90th minute to snatch victory for Gold Stars, sparking wild celebrations among the home supporters.
The defeat leaves Hearts of Oak five points behind the leaders, having missed another chance to narrow the gap. They are now winless in their last two league matches following their Super Clash triumph over Asante Kotoko.
With only a handful of points separating the top sides, the title race remains finely balanced as Hearts sit third on the table.
