Kumasi Asante Kotoko assistant coach Hamza Obeng has apologized to the club’s supporters after the Porcupine Warriors lost to Karela United.

Kotoko lost 1-0 to Karela at the Aliu Mahama Stadium in Tamale which extended the team’s winless run in Tamale. Since 2017, Kotoko are yet to win in Tamale.

The Porcupine conceded in the latter stages of the first half almost immediately after Henry Ansu was red carded in the 40th minute.

Losing to Karela meant that Kotoko have lost three of their last five league games with its sole win coming in a 2-0 win over Young Apostles.

Speaking after the loss to Karela, Hamza Obeng called for his team to switch focus to its next game against city rivals Nations FC on Sunday, March 22.

“We are down with the result that we had today but it’s part of the game. We need to take it aside and concentrate on our next game.”

Hamza Obeng

“Unfortunately for us, we were not able to put the ball in the back of the net and we conceded that easy goal at the time we were down by one man. We are sorry for losing this game but it-the league title race-is not over yet” Hamza Obeng said.
