Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola has explained his decision to call off Man City’s training session ahead of a crucial game against Real Madrid in the UEFA Champions League.

Man City take on Madrid in the second leg of the round of 16 stage on Tuesday, March 17 trailing 3-0 from the first leg and in real danger of missing out on qualifying to the quarterfinals.

Federico Valverde scored a hat-trick to power Madrid to the big win but ahead of the big game, Guardiola called off today’s training session and rescheduled it to Tuesday morning.

“We train tomorrow [before the game]. It [calling off the training session]’s related. The way you play, if you play good mentally you will be strong. The task is massive, to score more than three goals against Real Madrid, it is not easy.”

“The result in the first leg is not the perfect one but at the same time we are here, it is a football game, everything can happen” Pep Guardiola said to the club’s media.
