England defender John Stones will leave Manchester City at the end of the 2025-2026 season the club has confirmed.
Stones’ impending departure from the club draws an end to a 10 year stay at the club after moving from Everton.
The 31 year old, whose stay at Man City has been blighted by injuries, joins fellow veteran player Bernardo Silva on the way out of the club after this season.
At the time of writing, Stones has played just seven games and praised Man City manager Pep Guardiola in his exit post on Instagram.
“It has been my home for the past 10 years and it will be my home for the rest of my life. I lived all my dreams out and lifted all the things that I came here to achieve. Every dream has been smashed out of the park.”

“I don’t think it would have been anywhere near as successful without him-Pep Guardiola. I don’t think it would have been anywhere near as successful without him” Stones wrote.

He is aiming to feature for England at the 2026 FIFA World Cup where the Three Lions are in Group L with Ghana’s Black Stars, Panama and Croatia.
