Ghana’s National Football Team, the Black Stars, has a new goalkeeper trainer as long-time Carlos Queiroz confidant Daniel Gaspar is set to take over the role.
He takes over the position from Fatau Dauda, who served in the role under former Black Stars head coach Otto Addo.
Dauda will stick with the team despite the change as one of the technical staff members of the Black Stars under Carlos Queiroz, who was appointed as Black Stars head coach earlier this month.
Gaspar and Queiroz have worked together extensively at three FIFA World Cups with Portugal and twice with Iran.
Ghana will compete at the 2026 FIFA World Cup and has been drawn in Group L alongside Panama, England, and Croatia.

Reacting to the news of his appointment, Hartford Athletic manager Brendan Burke highlighted the Portuguese-American’s qualities to the club’s media.

“This represents Dan’s fourth World Cup on the sidelines. A tremendous lifetime achievement for anyone. We are truly lucky to have him as part of our technical staff here in Hartford.”

“Our entire roster, technical staff, and organization are excited for him and his team to chase the World Cup one month from now” Burke said.
