Interim head coach of Asante Kotoko, Prince Yaw Owusu, has conceded that the club’s chances of winning the 2025–2026 Ghana Premier League title are over.

After weeks of insisting otherwise despite a poor run of form, Owusu described Kotoko’s title hopes as “impossible”.

He made the remarks at a post-match press conference following Kotoko’s 4–0 defeat to Medeama in Week 29 at the TNA Stadium in Tarkwa.

Owusu also blamed match officials for the heavy loss, rather than his tactics or team selection, adding that the performance was affected by decisions beyond his control.

“I want to apologize to the fans. It was a bad day at the office, it didn’t go the way we wanted it. Yes I think this one [loss to Medeama] is very deep. To come back to win this league is impossible.”
