Ghana’s men’s 4x100m relay team has qualified for the 2027 World Athletics Championships in Beijing after placing second in Heat 1 of the repechage round at the World Athletics Relays in Botswana, with a time of 38.09 seconds.
The result marks Ghana’s fourth qualification to the World Athletics Championships in the men’s 4x100m relay, reinforcing the team’s growing consistency on the global stage.
The quartet of Abdul-Rasheed Saminu, Benjamin Azamati, Joseph Amoah, and Edwin Gadayi delivered a composed performance on Sunday, May 3, 2026.
This comes as a redemption of sorts for the team, which had fallen short of automatic qualification just 24 hours earlier on Saturday, May 2, finishing fourth in Heat 3 with a time of 38.19 seconds.
In the repechage, however, the team responded strongly, showing improved coordination in their baton exchanges while maintaining pace across all four legs, securing second place and sealing qualification.
