England captain Harry Kane credited manager Thomas Tuchel for the Three Lions’ win in its opening game at the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
He said this after England beat Croatia 4-2 with the English scoring the third and fourth goals in the second half to put the game away.
Kane scored twice in the game with both coming in the first half before Jude Bellingham and Marcus Rashford made the result safe in the second half.
Reflecting on the game, Kane pointed to the half time talk Tuchel delivered to the team as the reason for the turnaround in the second half by stating,
“The boss said at half-time to up the tempo, go man for man and completely take the game to them, and that is exactly what happened.”

“You saw us at our best level, both with and without the ball and we could have scored three or four goals in that 20-minute spell in the second half” Kane said to the BBC.
