After aiding Venezia qualify from the Italian Serie B to the Serie A, John Yeboah Zamora’s campaign got even better after getting named in the Ecuador squad that will compete in the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
Ecuador head coach Sebastián Beccacece named his squad in the lead up to the June 1 deadline for the announcement of team members for nations competing in this month’s World Cup. (Scroll down to view full list)
Chelsea midfielder Moises Caicedo leads the group that has the likes of AC Milan defender Pervis Estupinan and Arsenal defender Piero Hincapie included.
Nilson Angulo of AFC Sunderland and forward Anthony Valencia of Royal Antwerp in the Belgian League also made the squad.
Born to a Ghanaian father and an Ecuadorian mother in Germany, 25 year old John Yeboah was eligible to play for either of the three nations but opted to play for the South American nation.

In 34 league games for Venezia in Serie B, Yeboah scored 10 goals and added nine assists; he played in nine World Cup qualification games but had zero goals.

He did score in Ecuador’s 2-1 win over Saudi Arabia in a pre-World Cup friendly game this weekend.
