England head coach Thomas Tuchel says he has complete faith in his squad’s ability to win the 2026 FIFA World Cup, insisting the belief and unity within the camp have strengthened his confidence ahead of the tournament.
The German coach revealed that recent conversations with players have convinced him that England possess both the quality and mentality required to compete deep into the competition and challenge for football’s biggest prize.
England’s squad is set to travel to Miami for a 10-day warm-weather training camp as preparations intensify for the World Cup in the United States, Canada and Mexico.
Reflecting on the progress made since taking charge, Tuchel expressed excitement about the group he has assembled and the connection that has developed within the squad.
“When I reconnected with the games and built our training sessions and meetings to reconnect the team in Florida with what we have built already, I saw a lot of quality,” Tuchel said.
“That instantly gave me the full belief and excitement that we can go a long way.”

The former Chelsea and Paris Saint-Germain manager also highlighted the positive responses he received from players, including those who were not selected for the final squad.
“Things like the difficult phone calls, big phone calls, positive phone calls and the reaction of the players, it tells you that we have a connection already,” he added.
“It tells me the players care and they care so much. We had beautiful, touching reactions, even from players who were not called up and they were wishing us all the best.”
Tuchel believes the strong spirit within the camp is an encouraging sign as England seek to win their first World Cup since 1966 and add a second star to the national team shirt.

“The way they reacted tells me we are on the right way and that gets me personally excited to be close,” he said.
“I can’t wait to get on the plane, look over my shoulder, finally have a team behind me and arrive in Florida and do what I love the most, which is be a coach.”
With preparations entering their final phase, England will hope the unity and confidence highlighted by Tuchel can translate into a successful World Cup campaign as they pursue global glory next summer.
