Black Stars head coach Carlos Queiroz has tabbed Caleb Yirenkyi as a player who could become one of Ghana’s best players.
He said this after watching Yirenkyi score his first goal for Ghana in the Black Stars 1-1 draw with Wales in a pre-2026 FIFA World Cup friendly game played in Cardiff.
The FC Nordsjaelland player was the first to react twice to the rebound off an Ernest Njamah shot attempt with Yirenkyi’s second finding the back of the net in the second half.
After impressing in his debut run with the national team in the 2025 Unity Cup, Yirenkyi was named in Ghana’s 26 man squad for this year’s World Cup after impressing in the Danish League and his introduction to the game as a second half substitute caught the eye of the veteran Portuguese trainer.

“I think he is a fine player with a great future. He is still young, he has a lot of things to learn…I think with more games, with more experience, he can become one of the best players of the Ghana National Team in the midfield. I think it-the mkdfield-is his position” Queiroz said.
