Former Manchester United midfielder Paul Pogba has commended Michael Carrick for doing a brilliant job to get the club to qualify to the UEFA Champions League.
Carrick, who played with Pogba at Man United, took over as the club’s head coach from Ruben Amorim on an interim basis and registered the best form in the league from January 15 to close out the season.
Man United finished in third place and Carrick ended up nominated for the English Premier League Manager of the Year Award.
The Red Devils rewarded Carrick with a new contract on a permanent basis at the end of the season as they prepare to compete in the Champions League next season and Pogba pointed out what Carrick did differently in an interview with ESPN.
“It was good. I think it was very good for him and for the players. They had like another air, they felt another energy and that was good for them — it’s all they needed.”

“I guess next year they’re back in the Champions League — it’s going to be a good challenge for them and they’re going to have to prove themselves but it was for sure a good season for them to get back to where Manchester United belong” Pogba said.

Carrick and Pogba won the Europa League title at Man United under former head coach Jose Mourinho.
