Reigning NBA Defensive Player of the Year Award winner Victor Wembanyama didn’t have his best outing in Game One of the NBA Finals against the New York Knicks.

Wembanyama’s San Antonio Spurs lost 95-105 to the Knicks after registering 26 points and 12 rebounds but recorded six turnovers.

Beyond the turnovers, Wembanyama struggled to score the basket as he converted just six of 21 field goal attempts in 38 minutes.

He also scored just two of nine three point shot attempts in the loss but stated to reporters after the game that he wasn’t bothered by his struggles.

“Every team guards differently. I’m going to figure it out. I was bad tonight. It’s not more complicated than that.”

“It’s almost like I have to play normal, not even good [in Game 2]. When we play bad, when I play bad, is when we shoot ourselves in the foot. This is why I’m not worried. We’re going to be so much better. I’m going to be so much better” Wembanyama said.
