New York Knicks guard Jalen Brunson says his team’s win in Game One of the NBA Finals was down to the group’s elite mentality.
He shared this after the Knicks beat San Antonio Spurs 105-95 with Game Two scheduled to take place in San Antonio on Saturday, June 6.
Despite dealing with a leg injury, Brunson, who won the Eastern Conference Finals MVP Award, scored 30 points in 37 minutes in the contest.
Like Spurs’ leader Victor Wembanyama who converted just six of 21 field goal attempts, Brunson struggled to score efficiently after he converted 12 of 31 field goal shot attempts.
Speaking in the post game presser, Brunson shared that the Knicks calmness in crunch moments contributed to the important win.

“I don’t want to say calmness, but I think we know what we have to do. I think we are a pretty together group. Be able to trust each other… It’s just a credit to the mentality that we have as a team.”

“I think most importantly, knowing we’re on the road, and knowing my teammates have my back, I think that’s the biggest thing in an environment like this” Brunson said.
