Ghana are set to meet Colombia in the Round of 32 at the 2026 World Cup after the South Americans secured a draw against Portugal in their final group match on Saturday.
The 0-0 result at Hard Rock Stadium in Miami saw Colombia finish top of Group K with seven points, while Portugal placed second with five.
Under the tournament’s new format, the top two sides in each group, along with the best third-placed teams, progress to the knockout phase.
That outcome means Ghana who placed third in Group L will take on the Group K winners in Kansas City on Friday, July 4.
Although Ghana fell 2-1 to Croatia in their final group fixture, they still advanced to the Round of 32 as one of the best third-placed teams, collecting four points from three matches.
England claimed top spot in Group L with seven points after a 2-0 win over Panama, while Croatia finished second with six points following their victory over Ghana. Panama exited the competition after losing all their games.
In the match, Croatia went ahead in the 31st minute through Petar Sučić’s long-range effort.
Ghana drew level in the 73rd minute when Derrick Luckassen scored with a header on his World Cup debut, before Nikola Vlašić restored Croatia’s advantage in the 83rd minute from a corner.
Ghana will now head to Kansas City for their Round of 32 encounter with Colombia on July 4, while Croatia face Portugal, the Group K runners-up, in Toronto on July 2.
Group L winners England will play one of the best third-placed teams in Atlanta on July 1.
