The veteran sprinter progressed to the final after winning heat two of the semifinals in a time of 20.24 seconds of the men’s competition at the ongoing 2026 Commonwealth Games in Glasgow, Scotland.

The final is scheduled to take place on Friday, July 31 at 20:25 GMT with South Africa’s Sinesipho Dambile leading the finalists after pacing the field with a time of 19.82 seconds.

However, fellow Ghana sprinters James Dadzie and Mustapha Bokpin missed out on qualifying to the final.

Speaking after the race, Paul Amoah made it known that he needed to clean up a few issues before the final.

“I feel good. I had a pretty tough lane draw, I didn’t think I was going to get Lane Three but I had to psyche myself when the lanes came out…I think I did a pretty good execution. I have to clean up a few stuff going into the final” Amoah said.

🎥 🇬🇭 “It would have been very historic if we had all made it to the final, but we are grateful.”
