Christian Pulisic’s injury filled run at the 2026 FIFA World Cup ultimately ended up costing him as he an ankle injury forced him off in the United States of America’s round of 16 clash against Belgium.
The US got hammered 4-1 to Belgium in a game that was dominated by American forward Folarin Balogun’s red card related mandatory one match suspension getting overturned to a probationary suspension after US President Doanld Trump’s intervention.
Pulisic featured in the game but was replaced in the 59th minute by Sebastian Berhalter after picking up the injury while tussling with Belgium’s Youri Tielemans.
The AC Milan forward’s injury issues forced him to America’s 2-0 win over at the group phase but recovered to feature in the 2-0 win over Bosnia and Herzegovina and shared his frustration in a post-game presser.
“I twisted my ankle. It’s just frustrating to end like that. Now I have time to rest, and I will be O” Pulisic said.
Pulisic has 33 goals in 90 games but failed to score at the 2026 World Cup.
