Kylian Mbappé has made FIFA World Cup history by winning the Golden Boot for a second consecutive tournament.

The France captain finished as the top scorer at the 2026 World Cup with 10 goals and four assists, becoming the first player to retain the award in successive editions.

Mbappé won his first Golden Boot at the 2022 World Cup in Qatar after scoring eight goals, including a hat trick in the final against Argentina.

The 27-year-old also became the World Cup’s all-time leading scorer during the tournament. His two goals against England in the third-place playoff took his tally to 22 World Cup goals, breaking Lionel Messi’s record.

France, however, ended the tournament without a medal after a 6-4 defeat to England in the third-place playoff. Didier Deschamps’ side had earlier lost 2-0 to eventual champions Spain in the semifinals.
