He said this in an interview with MundoDeportivo ahead of Spain’s 2026 FIFA World Cup quarterfinal clash against Belgium on Friday, July 10.
Lamine Yamal has registered a goal in Spain’s campaign after recovering from a groin injury and featured in the 2010 World Champions’ 1-0 win over Iberian rivals Portugal in the round of 16 stage.
Alvarez, who is competing with Argentina at the World Cup and is in line to play in the defending champions’ quarterfinal game against Switzerland on Sunday, July12 has emerged as a top target for Barcelona and Yamal believes Alvarez’s style is the reason.
“The whole world knows Julian is a top player, everyone wants to play with him, Julian is in that category. We wait for him with open arms.”

“Julian is really perfect for Barcelona’s style; I’ve no idea about the deal but I hope he joins” Yamal said.
