Ghana midfielder Daniel-Kofi Kyereh says he never lost faith despite battling several injuries over the past three seasons.
Kyereh made the comments in his first official interview after joining German Bundesliga 2 side VfL Osnabrück as a free agent.
The 28-year-old midfielder endured a difficult spell at Bundesliga club SC Freiburg, where an ACL injury and other setbacks limited his playing time. His move to Osnabrück reunites him with head coach Timo Schultz, who previously worked with Kyereh at St. Pauli.
Kyereh enjoyed an impressive spell under Schultz at St. Pauli, form that helped earn him a move to Freiburg and establish himself with the Black Stars. The Ghana international is now hoping to rediscover that form and build a strong new chapter with Osnabrück.
“The past few years have been a very difficult time for me. But I never lost faith in my ability to return to the pitch.”
“I know Timo from our successful time together at FC St. Pauli and I know how he wants his team to play football… and gradually getting back to my best level” Kyereh said to the club’s media.
In the 2021-2022 season, Kyereh registered 12 goals and 10 assists.
