Black Stars deputy captain Thomas Partey has officially joined Saudi Pro League side Al-Shabab as a free agent. His contract is reportedly a one year deal and will run through the 2026-2027 season. (Scroll down to watch video)
The move comes on the back of Partey playing out the 2025-2026 season with Spanish La Liga side Villarreal and marks the veteran player’s debut run in Asian football after spending all of his professional career in Europe.
The 32 year old spent time in Spain playing for the likes of Almeria and Atletico Madrid before sealing a big five year deal with English Premier League side Arsenal.
Partey featured in the FIFA World Cup for the second time in his career after playing in Ghana’s 2026 World Cup in the United States of America, Mexico and Canada.
Ghana made it to the round of 32 stage with Partey playing in three of the Black Stars’ four game run in the campaign.

He was controversially ruled out of competing in Ghana’s opening game at the tournament against Panama in Canada due to visa issues.

Just a regular Friday; casually signing a legend. 🇬🇭🥶
