The stunning scenes took place after Neymar’s Santos FC secured its first ever league win at Corinthians’ home ground in the league. Santos won 1-0.
In the aftermath of the contest, Neymar took off his jersey and handed it over to the young fan who displayed a banner that read, “I’m a huge Corinthians fan, but I’m your fan.”
However, Neymar’s gesture led to chaos as the young fan and his family were subjected to boos and insults from Corinthians fans who were angry over the fan taking a rival’s jersey.
Neymar, who announced his retirement from the Brazil National Men’s Football Team following Brazil’s round of 16 stage exit at the 2026 FIFA World Cup, is inching closer to outright announcing his retirement from football after dealing with multiple injuries in recent years.
