2027 AFCON: Rahim Ibrahim earns maiden Black Stars call-up

Slovan Bratislava midfielder Rahim Ibrahim has received his maiden senior call-up to the Black Stars ahead of Ghana’s 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers.

The 25-year-old is among the nine players added to Carlos Queiroz’s squad following medical concerns over some of the initially selected players.

Ibrahim has played a key role in Slovan’s European campaign this season, featuring in seven UEFA Champions League matches, including four starts, and playing 317 minutes.

He has also made five appearances in the Slovak Niké Liga, scoring twice in 196 minutes. Overall, he has made 12 competitive appearances this season, scoring twice in 513 minutes.

Ibrahim joined Slovan Bratislava from fellow Slovak side AS Trenčín in February 2025 after four seasons with the club, where he made 83 league appearances and scored nine goals.

He will now join the Black Stars for Ghana’s AFCON qualifiers against Côte d’Ivoire and The Gambia, as well as the international friendly against Morocco.
