CAF has upheld Ampem Darkoa Ladies’ protest against Edo Queens and ordered the WAFU Zone B qualifying final for the 2026 CAF Women’s Champions League to resume from 2-2.
The decision, dated September 26, overturns Edo Queens’ 4-1 penalty shootout victory after the teams drew 2-2 in regulation time in Ouagadougou, Burkina Faso, on September 5.
CAF ruled that the penalty shootout should not have taken place because the competition regulations require two 15-minute periods of extra time before penalties. CAF attributed the error to an administrative instruction and said neither club was responsible.
Ampem Darkoa’s request for a full replay was rejected. Instead, the 90 minutes already played will stand, with the match resuming at 2-2 and proceeding into two periods of extra time. If the scores remain level after extra time, a new penalty shootout will decide the winner.
CAF has directed that, where practically and legally possible, the continuation should maintain the same sporting conditions, including player eligibility, disciplinary status, substitutions, venue and match officials.
WAFU Zone B will announce the date, kick-off time and venue in consultation with CAF and the two national associations. The winner will earn WAFU Zone B’s place at the 2026 CAF Women’s Champions League final tournament.
