Real Madrid head coach Jose Mourinho wasn’t pleased about the naïve behavior of his players in a loss to Real Betis.

His criticism of Madrid players came on the back of Real Madrid’s shock 1-0 loss to Real Betis in the Spanish La Liga.

The controversial game had seven yellow cards shown to Real Madrid palyers with another yellow card shown to Jose Mourinho.

Carlos Espi’s strike was ruled out for offside after a VAR check and Kylian Mbappe’s penalty attempt was saved leading to Real Madrid’s boss Mourinho to state,

“The Betis players are smarter than those of Real Madrid, who are pure, naive.”

“Naive in the sense that, for minor things, Betis players try to influence the referee’s decisions, while Real Madrid players, in situations clearly deserving of a yellow card—for example, Valverde being stepped on—they stay on their feet.”

“When you play matches against teams with this kind of culture, this kind of mentality, it becomes a factor against you.
