Ghana’s Black Queens have cruised into the next round of the 2028 Olympic Games women’s football qualifiers after completing a commanding 10-0 aggregate victory over Mauritius on Tuesday.

The Queens secured their progression with another dominant performance at the Essipong Stadium, building on their 3-0 victory in the first leg in Mauritius.

Despite carrying a comfortable advantage into the return fixture, head coach Kim Lars Björkegren named a strong starting line-up as Ghana looked to finish the tie emphatically.

The hosts dominated the first half, forcing Mauritius deep into their own half as they struggled to contain Ghana’s attacking pressure.

The Black Queens’ superiority was reflected on the scoreboard, with Evelyn Badu, Portia Boakye and Ajegipina Zakaria all finding the net before the interval to give Ghana a 3-0 lead on the day.

With the visitors already trailing by three goals from the first leg, the early strikes left Ghana firmly in control of the contest and on course for a comprehensive aggregate triumph.

The result extends the Black Queens’ campaign as they pursue qualification for the women’s football tournament at the 2028 Olympic Games in Los Angeles.

Ghana will face either Uganda or Zambia in the next round, scheduled for February next year, with the outcome of that tie set to determine whether the Queens can move another step closer to securing an Olympic place.
