Manchester United defender Lisandro Martinez delivered a sharp critique of the club’s top brass following another loss in the early stages of the 2026-2027 season.
The Red Devils lost 2-0 to Atletico Madrid in Spain in the UEFA Champions League after conceding goals from Pablo Barrios and Ademola Lookman.
Manchester United defender Leny Yoro was dismissed from the game in the 74th minute after picking up a straight red card for fouling Jonathan David who was bearing down on goal.
Following the loss, Martinez expressed his frustration over Man United’s lack of depth in the club’s first appearance in the Champions League in three years.
“We did a fantastic season last season and now we expect more from the top, more players to compete because many teams bring many players as well.”

“I expect more [investment]. 100%. I expect more from our technical director [Jason Wilcox]. I have to be honest, as players we have to do more but it is also important when you make a strong squad to be ready for this kind of night.”

“Tonight it is easy to [blame] the coach, easy to say the players but also we have to see other areas” he said.
