Como head coach Cesc Fabregas has admitted he regrets telling his players to slow down late in their 4-1 win over Manchester United in the UEFA Champions League on Wednesday, October 22.
Midfielder Nico Paz starred with two goals and an assist as Como handed United a heavy defeat. The result added to United’s struggles, with the club now without a win in seven matches across all competitions. They had also lost 2-0 to Atletico Madrid in the previous round of the Champions League.
Man United captain Bruno Fernandes seemingly blamed head coach Michael Carrick for the loss because of poor tactics. (Click highlighted text to read full story)
However, Fabregas in a post-game interview said he told his players to slow down in the final moments.

“I believe that tactically speaking the team played a rather good game. I regret maybe the last 10 minutes when I was the one telling the team to slow down the pace because there was another game and maybe with a 4-0 lead they could have managed something.”

“I told Tasos Douvikas not to run anymore, to stay in the middle and maybe that is what I regret, because I’m the first one who always pushes the fight until the end. That [consolation] goal hurt me” Fabregas said.
