Minister for Food and Agriculture Eric Opoku has pledged to enrol eight locally based Black Challenge players in the government’s ‘Nkoko Nkitinkiti’ poultry programme after Ghana participates in the 2026 World Amputee Football World Cup in Mexico.

The initiative is intended to help the players establish poultry businesses and create an additional source of income beyond football.

Eric Opoku announced the commitment during a visit to the team’s training session on Monday, October 27, at the University of Ghana.

“When you return from the tournament, we want the eight of you who will be with us here to be part of our Pottery Program. We want you to be part of the Nkoko Nkitinkiti Program. The Ministry of Food and Agriculture is putting together a special package. We’ll make sure you get the battery cages. You’ll get the layers, the feed and the technical expertise to settle you as pottery farmers so that you have something to live on,” he said.

‘Nkoko Nkitinkiti’ is the household and backyard poultry component of the government’s Feed Ghana Programme, which seeks to improve food security and household incomes through increased domestic food production.

The Black Challenge are preparing for the World Amputee Football World Cup, scheduled for November 13–22 in San Juan de los Lagos, Mexico. Ghana have been drawn in Group D alongside Angola, Colombia and Iraq.
