Ghanaian boxer Amadu Mohammed is one win away from claiming gold and a $20,000 prize at the 2026 IBA Elite Africa Men’s and Women’s Boxing Championship in Kinshasa, Democratic Republic of Congo.
The Sea View Boxing Gym boxer will face Zambia’s Mwengo Mwale in the men’s featherweight (-57kg) final on Saturday, October 31.
The bout offers Mohammed a chance to repeat his victory over Mwale at the 2023 African Games in Accra, where he stopped the Zambian by second-round technical knockout in the bantamweight (-54kg) division.
The two boxers will meet in a different weight category, with Mohammed aiming to maintain his unbeaten record against Mwale and secure the continental title.
Mohammed, a southpaw, will look to use his punching power and aggression, while Mwale is expected to rely on his footwork and attacking approach.
The gold medallist will receive $20,000, with the silver medallist earning $10,000 and each bronze medallist taking home $5,000. Victory would be a major achievement for Mohammed and strengthen his standing in African amateur boxing.
