Returning to the ring over a year of inactivity to recover from an elbow surgery and the loss of his undisputed super middleweight title to Terence Crawford, boxing icon Saul “Canelo” Alvarez reclaimed one of those titles by delivering a dominant performance to beat Cameroonian-Canadian boxer Christian Mbilli for the WBC Super middleweight belt.
Alvarez, who improved his record to 63 wins, three losses and two draws, scored 117-110, 116-111 and 115-112 on the score card of all three judges on the back of landing 132 power punches and Mbilli launching 99 power punches according to Compubox.
The bout took place in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia with heightened security concerns as the Iran-Israel-United States of America war continue to rage on but for Canelo, he was happy to win another title at age 36.
“It’s so difficult to explain. It’s something unbelievable, this feeling.”

“Like my first title. Thirty-one years as a professional. Sixteen years ago, I won my first title. Now, I won the title again. I’m so proud” Canelo said at a presser.
