The Ghana Investment Promotion Centre (GIPC) on Friday, December 4, 2020, organized a football “Peace Cup” ahead of the 2020 presidential and parliamentary polls.

The football gala was held at the McDan La Town Park a featured various teams including the hosts, GIPC, the Ghana Export Promotion Agency (GEPA), the Gaming Commission Ghana (GCG) and the Ghana Free Zones Authority (GFZA).

The football tournament was organized to send a message of peace before, during and after the elections which will come off on December 7, 2020.

Speaking to the media, the Chief Executive of GIPC, Yoofi Grant stated that his outfit used football as an outlet to promote peace because it is one of the most effective tools.

“Peace is essential to the sustenance of our country and you know peace is the only way forward and there is no better way to send that message than football. You know in Ghana everyone loves football; we are a country where we have eleven players and 31 million coaches and this is a good way to show we want peace and to establish better partnerships.

“There are several companies here and this shows the exact message we want to send out, and we are very happy.”

Mr Yoofi Grant further urged Ghanaians to leave their homes and vote come December 7, 2020.

“I urge Ghanaians to move quietly and peacefully to the polling centres, cast your vote and then go back home. We all know what we want in the future and I dare say that so far, so good, a better Ghana is coming. I know who I am voting for, I know I am voting for continued development, continued transformation, and I am voting for a Ghana like never before.”
