Veteran football administrator, Jones Abu Alhassan, has died in the Ivorian city of Abidjan, Citi Sports can confirm.
His death happened on Tuesday morning following a short illness.
The former Real Tamale United boss was part of the Ghana Football Association’s delegation that accompanied Hasaacas Ladies to the WAFU Zone B CAF Women’s Champions League qualifying tournament which Hasaacas won last Thursday.
Abu Alhassan, an instrumental figure in the election of Kurt Okraku as GFA President, reportedly contracted COVID-19 after the team’s arrival in Abidjan and had been in hospital since.
His death will come as a big shock to the Ghana football community, having been a key figure in Ghana football for the last 30 years.
