Mo Salah joins Premier League ‘Club 100’ – Is he a bigger PL great than Ronaldo?

Salah is making his case as the greatest winger in Premier League history

Mo Salah scored his 100th Premier League goal for Liverpool beating the great Roger Hunt by one game to claim the record for the least games to reach one hundred topflight goals for Liverpool. In his first four seasons, for Liverpool he has averaged an incredible 23.75 goals per season.

He has claimed two golden boots in that time and one player of the season. His debut season was one of, if not, the most impressive individual season we have had the hour of witnessing. In thirty-six games Salah broke the 38-game scoring record as he plundered thirty-two goals from the right wing whilst adding ten assists.

Salah’s goal exploits alone mean he will retire a Premier League legend and arguably the greatest right winger in the history in the league.

Now I know all of you are wondering about that Portuguese fellow in Manchester. Cristiano Ronaldo is probably the greatest winger in football history. His achievements are unmatched, however most of these achievements are linked to the white of Real Madrid and I am talking strictly about the Premier League.

Ronaldo left the league with eighty-four goals and thirty-four assists in 196 games over the course of six seasons. He won two player of the season awards and one golden boot. Salah, on the other hand, in four seasons has managed ninety-five goals thirty-three assists with one player of the season and two golden boots.

I know what you might be thinking, Ronaldo played wide in a 4-4-2 so it would have been harder to score, granted but his assist numbers indicate his contribution was pretty average for most of his time in United. 4,4,6,8,6,6 those are Ronaldo’s assist numbers for his Manchester United career he also scored more than twenty only once, Salah has done it three times in four seasons. Salah on the other hand has managed 10,8,10,5 so even if you took out goals Salah has still outperformed Ronaldo.

I imagine you would say Ronaldo was a youngster, so it is only natural that Salah outperformed, and it does not matter. My point is Salah has had a better Premier League career than Ronaldo’s age is irrelevant to that. I will concede that Ronaldo has more silverware and leads Salah 3-1 but as individuals Mohammed Salah is clear and we need to acknowledge we are witnessing one of the greatest players in Premier League history and give Salah is flowers.
