Paris 2024 Olympics: Black Queens paired against Guinea in first round of qualifiers

BLACK QUEENS

Black Queens will take on Guinea in a West African derby in the first round of fixtures for the Paris 2024 Women’s Olympic Football Tournament.

The draw was held in Cairo, Egypt, on Tuesday, 30th May 2023.

Guinea, ranked 136th, will host 59th-ranked Ghana in the first leg on 10th July, before the return leg on 18th July 2023.

The winner of the Guinea/Ghana tie will square off with the victor of the Guinea-Bissau/Benin matches.

The Black Queens have never qualified for the Olympics Games.

Nora Hauptle’s side has recorded victories over Benin and Senegal in preparatory matches for the upcoming assignment.

A total of 25 teams have entered the Olympic qualifying tournament, with 18 set to be involved in the first round scheduled for July 10-18 2023

The other 7 will join from the second round from October 23-31, third round is set for February 19-28 February 2024 while the final round will be staged between April 1-9 2024.

  1. Guinea Bissau vs Benin
  2. Guinea vs Ghana
  3. Burkina Faso vs Mali
  4. Cote d’Ivoire vs Sierra Leone
  5. Namibia vs Equatorial Guinea
  6. Uganda vs Rwanda
  7. Ethiopia vs Chad
  8. Congo vs Tanzania
  9. Mozambique vs DR Congo

Second-Round Fixtures:

  1. Guinea Bissau/Benin vs Guinea/Ghana
  2. Burkina Faso/Mali vs Zambia
  3. Cote d’Ivoire/Sierra Leone vs Tunisia
  4. Namibia/Equatorial Guinea vs Morocco
  5. Uganda/Rwanda vs Cameroon
  6. Ethiopia/Chad vs Nigeria
  7. Congo/Tanzania vs Botswana
  8. Mozambique/DR Congo vs South Africa
