Asante Kotoko 0-1 Accra Great Olympics: Dr Kwame Kyei Complex, Kumasi

Accra Great Olympics secured a crucial 1-0 victory against Asante Kotoko, significantly boosting their chances of avoiding relegation in the Ghana Premier League on matchday-32, held on Sunday.

Raymond Oko Gripman scored the decisive goal in the 44th minute, giving the visitors a much-needed win at the Dr. Kwame Kyei Sports Complex.

Currently 16th on the league table with 39 points, the Olympics can surpass their city rivals Hearts of Oak if they triumph over Dreams FC in their upcoming match on Wednesday, June 5, 2024. Six teams are deeply entangled in the relegation battle with the league heading towards a tense conclusion.

Asante Kotoko, sitting 10th with 43 points, must secure at least one win from their remaining two games to ensure their survival in the Ghanaian top tier.

Medeama SC 0-1 Heart of Lions: Akoon Community Park, Tarkwa

Ebenezer Abban secured a dramatic injury-time penalty, giving Heart of Lions a crucial 1-0 victory over Medeama SC on Sunday.

After missing an earlier penalty in the 89th minute at the Akoon Community Park, Abban redeemed himself with his late strike.

This win propels the visitors to 13th place on the league table with 41 points, a significant boost in their fight to avoid relegation.

Consequently, Medeama SC is now out of the title race, with the Premier League trophy heading to FC Samartex in 1996.

The Mauve and Yellow are currently level on points with Aduana FC, occupying the third spot.

Nsoatreman 1-1 Accra Lions: Nana Kronmansah Park, Nsoatre

On Sunday, Nsoatreman FC and Accra Lions played to a thrilling 1-1 draw at the Nana Kronmansah Park.

The home side took an early lead in the 6th minute through Collins Kofi Kudjoe, but Bernard Kesse equalized for Accra Lions in the 25th minute.

Following the match, Accra Lions sit 5th on the table with 48 points, while Nsoatreman FC are 8th with 46 points.

On Sunday, youngster Abdul Aziz Issah netted the sole goal, leading Dreams FC to a 1-0 victory over Karela United at home. Issah, currently tied as the top scorer in the 2023-24 CAF Confederation Cup, delivered the crucial goal just before halftime at the Theatre of Dreams in Dawu. With this win, Dreams FC, who still have two games in hand, are positioned 14th with 41 points from 30 matches. Meanwhile, Karela United has fallen to 15th place, holding 40 points.

FC Samartex 1996 clinched their first-ever Ghana Premier League title with a 1-0 victory over Bibiani GoldStars FC at home on Sunday.

Emmanuel Mammah’s goal in the first half secured the championship for the team from Samreboi.

The Nsenkyire Stadium erupted in spontaneous celebration, with festivities expected to continue late into the night.

Samartex only needed to avoid defeat to claim the title after second-place Aduana FC lost to Bechem United on Saturday.

The dethroned champions, Medeama, also fell short after a 1-0 home defeat to Heart of Lions, paving the way for Samartex to win the Premier League grandly.

With this victory, the Timber Giants now hold a nine-point lead at the top of the table with just two matches remaining in the season.
