Communications Director of Legon Cities Football Club, Kwame Dwomoh Agyeman, has stated that the club got a “fair bit” of attention when football legend Asamoah Gyan joined the club.

Gyan played in the 2020-2021 Ghana Premier League season for Legon Cities in a shock move that turned out to be the last club Gyan played for in his legendary career.

Prior to playing for Legon Cities, the Baby Jet played for Udinese, Stade Rennes, AFC Sunderland and Shanghai SIPG. His Ghana Premier League career started off at Liberty Professionals.

Despite failing to score in six appearances for Legon Cities, Kwame Dwomoh Agyeman believes Gyan’s brief stint with the club brought a lot of attention to Legon Cities.

“It gave us a lot of attention naturally, it gave us a lot of media buzz. If you look at the profile of someone like Asamoah Gyan, that’s huge. Someone who has played at a very high level; the leading goal scorer for Ghana, played at the World Cup on three occasions.”

“Once you have a brand like that attached to your brand, it would naturally lead to some level of attention and I have to say that during the period that he signed for the club, we got a fair bit of attention.”

Legon Cities lost its opening game of the 2024-2025 season 2-1 to Bibiani Gold Stars and take on Medeama next on Saturday, September 14 at the Legon Stadium.
