Black Stars midfielder Elisha Owusu is seemingly impressed with the state of the Accra Sports Stadium pitch ahead of Ghana’s crucial game against Sudan in the 2025 AFCON qualifiers.
He said this after the Black Stars held their first training session at the venue that will host the game on Thursday, October 10 at 16:00 GMT.
Owusu was part of 11 players who participated in the first training session that was dominated by players from England and French Ligue 1.
The playing surfaces at Ghana’s football venues have come under immense scrutiny over its poor state and it played a huge role in Ghana almost missing out on hosting the contest at home.
AS Monaco’s Mohammed Salisu and AJ Auxerre’s Gideon Mensah and Owusu represented the French Ligue 1 contingent at the training session and Owusu had some positive reviews about the Accra Stadium’s playing surface after the session,
“It was good; I will not lie to you. The pitch was quite good and we had an amazing training today so we are really happy that everybody is doing their thing to help us play better football.”
