“We could re-visit our position as headline sponsor of the GPL in the coming years” – Mouyela Katoula

Betpawa’s Managing Director for Africa and Chief Commercial Officer, Ntoudi Mouyelo Katoula, has indicated that the betting company is open to reconsidering its position as the “headline sponsor” of the Ghana Premier League.

Speaking at a press conference on Tuesday, Katoula announced Betpawa’s renewed dedication to supporting Ghanaian football.

In talks with the Ghana Football Association (GFA), Betpawa confirmed its ongoing sponsorship of the men’s Premier League, along with plans to extend its support to the women’s FA Cup.

A key feature of Betpawa’s support is the “Locker Room Bonus” initiative, a program that offers players instant mobile money rewards immediately after their matches, enhancing player motivation and financial support.

So what you have to understand is we are driven by the impact, okay?

And the impact for us, if you take a step back, is not only to impact the players and to support the league in being more professional as they are doing, but it is also to invite more sponsors to give money into this industry.

We are a betting brand, Betpower.

We want other betting brands to also sponsor the league, sponsor the teams.

Us being the main sponsor may not help, but it’s something that we could revisit in the coming years.

But the call out here is to say we need more companies to support our athletes.

So instead of just running to become the sponsor title, we want to make the impact and demonstrate that GFA and the athletes deserve to receive more sponsorship, not only from Betpower, but from other brands.
