Medeama SC Head Coach, Ibrahim Tanko, has expressed his excitement over the return of the Ghana Premier League (GPL) after a five-week suspension.
The league was put on hold following the unfortunate passing of Francis Yaw Frimpong, an incident that deeply affected the football community.
However, Tanko is delighted that competitive football is resuming.
Yeah, I mean we are very happy that football is coming back. It’s very unfortunate what happened that we didn’t play for a month, so we are happy that football is coming back, that every week we have to play football in Ghana

Medeama SC recently suffered elimination from the MTN FA Cup after a defeat to Pak Academy.
Despite this setback, Tanko remains optimistic about his team’s upcoming GPL fixture against Bechem United, promising a strong performance to appease the fans.
It’s very unfortunate that we are out of the empty FA Cup, and definitely, we disappointed our fans. But I think when you look at this week, the way the boys train and the way we walk, definitely, I have hope that we are going to make them happy this coming weekend.

We are very ready. Like you said, it’s been almost a month since we played a league game.
Definitely, we are on the train, we didn’t break them. We have a FA Cup, unfortunately, we lost to Pak Academy.
So this weekend is for the fans. We are going to do everything possible to make them happy this weekend,
Tanko also urged Medeama SC supporters to rally behind the team despite the FA Cup disappointment, emphasizing their importance to the club’s success.
We disappointed them last week, but definitely, they don’t have to leave us like that. They are the supporters we always count on, and we hope that they will come in their numbers to support. And I promise them that the team will not let them down.

Medeama SC will take on Bechem United at the TNA Stadium as they look to bounce back from their recent setback and make a strong statement in the league.
