The Southern Zone of the 2024 Malta Guinness Women’s Premier League has crowned a new champion — Police Ladies FC- following a commanding 18-match unbeaten run that culminated in a decisive 2-0 victory over FC Epiphany Warriors on the final match day.
Played at the Adjiriganor Astro Turf in Accra, the final fixture saw Police Ladies rise to the occasion with goals and grit, sealing their place atop the Southern Zone with 39 points, two clear of perennial contenders, Hasaacas Ladies.
Heading into the final weekend of fixtures, both Police and Hasaacas were locked on 36 points, separated only by goal difference.
While Police Ladies held their nerve to grind out a result, the record title holders faltered in Takoradi, held to a 1-1 draw at home by a resilient Jonina Ladies side. That slip handed the Southern crown to a Police side who have quietly built momentum all season long.

Police Ladies’ campaign was defined by consistency and resilience: 11 wins, six draws, and just one defeat, enough to unseat a Hasaacas side that has long dominated women’s football in Ghana.
This marks the first time Police Ladies have reached the Championship Playoff Final in league history.
Their reward? A long-anticipated clash against Northern Zone champions and defending national title holders, Ampem Darkoa Ladies, in the 2024 Malta Guinness Women’s Premier League Grand Finale, slated for a yet-to-be-confirmed date in May.

With both zonal champions in imperious form, the final promises to be a thrilling showdown, a clash of legacy versus ambition, as Police Ladies look to cap off their fairytale run with the ultimate prize in Ghanaian women’s football.
