The Inspector General of Police (IGP), Mr. Christian Tetteh Yohuno, warmly received a delegation from the National Sports Authority (NSA), led by Director General Mr. Yaw Ampofo Ankrah, at the Police Headquarters in Accra.

The courtesy visit aimed to deepen collaboration between the Ghana Police Service and the NSA through sports and recreational initiatives.

During the meeting, IGP Yohuno accepted an invitation to lead officers in the May Day Evening Walk and Workout event on Thursday, 1st May 2025.

He also confirmed his attendance at the highly anticipated Ghana Premier League match between Accra Hearts of Oak and Kumasi Asante Kotoko, scheduled for Sunday, 4th May 2025, at the Accra Sports Stadium.

Introducing the Police Management Board (POMAB), the IGP facilitated discussions on the Service’s sports engagement.

DCOP Lydia Donkor, Director-General of the Criminal Investigations Department, showcased the successes of the Police Ladies football team and urged the revival of the Security Services Sports Association (SESSA) Games.

COP Iddi Seidu, POMAB Member for Welfare, supported this call, proposing the recruitment of talented athletes into the Police Service.

He also noted that the Service has planned a May Day morning walk to promote health among officers.

Mr. Ampofo Ankrah praised the Ghana Police Service for its steadfast support for football and enhanced security measures at league venues nationwide.

He endorsed the revival of the SESSA Games as a means to identify and integrate athletic talent into the security services.

In closing, IGP Yohuno reaffirmed his commitment to fostering physical fitness within the Police Service, announcing plans for a quarterly fitness day for personnel.

He assured the NSA of his personal participation in both the May Day fitness event and the Hearts-Kotoko match, signalling strengthened ties between the two institutions.
