Spanish defender Dean Huijsen has revealed that Antoine Semenyo’s long throw-in assist for Huijsen’s goal against Arsenal was something the team had tried in other games to no avail but was glad it worked against the Gunners.
He said this in a post-game interview with Sky Sports after AFC Bournemouth mounted a comeback to beat Arsenal 2-1 at the Emirates Stadium.
Semenyo stepped off the bench and delivered a long throw-in close on the right side of the field deep into Arsenal’s box that was met by Dean Huijsen to get Bournemouth’s equalizer in the 67th minute.
“Honestly I didn’t expect him to throw it that long. We tried it in a few other games and it was trial and error, but it worked today. I’m always joking with Antoine Semenyo so I can’t make anymore jokes!” Huijsen said.

Bournemouth manager Andoni Iraola concurred stating, “Yes we hardly score any, that’s the first one. Today (the throw) was longer than I expected, but it’s a nice moment to score this type of goal.”

The assist is Semenyo’s for the season in all competitions-38 games- to go along with 11 goals.
